“We will not conceal them from their children, but tell to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength and His wondrous works that He has done.” (Psalm 78:4)
Chase is 6-months-old today! What a journey it has been so far. After learning to sit unsupported, he is now entering a very mobile stage, being able to lean against the sofa to stand for a few minutes, bouncing up and down when you hold him upright, lunging forward to get toys instead of being handed to him, and just the last two days started to show signs that he wants to learn to crawl. He’s also a very observant baby, because every time we bring him to a different room or different environment, he would quickly look all around him and check out what’s going on. He’s also started tasting rice cereal. And we learn that he likes listening to live music and sometimes rap music very much. Chase is engaging all his senses to interact with the world.
My prayer for him now is that he’ll also develop his spiritual sense. About a month ago, I started reading Psalm 1 to him every morning. Because my devotional Bible is a very thick Bible with large letters and it looks totally different from other books, he recognizes it’s Bible reading time when I put it in front of him and he gives me a look that tells me he knows what I’m doing with him. Also, we pray with him every night before bed. Last Sunday we started a “parenting support group” (PSG) at church studying the book “Sacred Parenting” by Gary Thomas, and it’s of great spiritual benefit to us all.
Chase is dealing with issues of his own. He continues to show that he has lots of struggle with sleeping. I guess he’s just not a natural sleeper, and we accept that we have to bring him along slowly in that department. He also has some stranger anxiety, so it’s a little difficult for other people to hold him right now. But it’s also a good thing because it shows that he’s learning discernment.
Last Sunday at church, I watched in amusement as 3-year-old Jadon played head bumping with Chase. As Chase played wioth Jadon, he was making pleasant sounds and squeals. It was the first time I ever saw Chase actively playing with another kid. It tells me that our baby is really growing and how time has flown.
