I’ve been meaning to write about my company, Accept Software, because a lot of exciting stuff has happened in my job.
The purpose of our software is to help do better at product planning and product innovation. Our software actually won a prestigious industry award two years in a row! I’ve been a software engineer for 15 years now and I’ve never been a part of a team that won anything until now.
Even more exciting is that we have a new CEO in our company who has had lots of experience. This morning he spoke to us and it was such an inspirational speech and I learned a lot from it, especially the relationship between success and responsibility.
He said that in order for us to achieve success, we have to gain about 200 customers in X months. But the way we should think about it is that, for these 200 future customers, and for the society as a whole, we have a responsibility to help them be better companies as a result of using our software, and through this we’ll improve the world. Again, he stated, we must believe with every fiber of our being that we have this responsibility, even an urgency, to help customers realize the full value of our software to make this world a better place.
Wow. So we’re not just selling stuff. Because we know that our software is capable of helping companies operate better and innovate better, we’re urgently responsible for helping improve this world. And, he added, if we don’t do this, somebody else will.
Sounds a lot like evangelism……
