If we submit to God, we have to be constantly changed and transformed to His likeness (2 Corinthians 3:18). But perhaps this is the kind of change that we would resist most because of our sinful natures. Not only do we need to change our sinful behaviors to be more like God, but we have to recognize our tendency to resist change and to have our inner desires changed to desire more of God.
If we claim to love God, we must be willing to change drastically and from inside-out.
“For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:3)
“The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; but whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected” (1 John 2:4-5a)
