“Dear Zachary”: The Saddest Film I’ve Ever Seen

I saw the film “Dear Zachary” last night, a documentary by Kurt Kuenne, about the murder of his childhood friend Andrew Bagby and what happened afterwards. I can’t believe I waited this long to see this. All I can say is, prepare to cry multiple times.

I think it’s best watching “Dear Zachary” without knowing too much of the real story beforehand. But if you really want to know a little bit more about it, watch the first 50 seconds of this trailer:

My first thought after seeing the film is 1 Corinthians 15:55-57:

“O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sometimes the reason people don’t believe in the “good news” is because they fail to believe how bad the “bad news” really is. Sometimes we need a reminder about the bad news — the sting of death and the power of sin — and how grim and shocking it really is.

I hope you get to watch “Dear Zachary.” Let me know what you think.
